MY FIRST GUEST POST. SHOULD I WEAR A TUX?
My friend Pamela Price of Red, White, and Grew has a great piece on the hedonic treadmill (it's right here, and you should read it). Here's my response:
IT'S ALL FUN AND GAMES UNTIL SOMEBODY GETS HURT
(I took this photo of the bridge near the old location for the San Antonio Zen Center a few years ago. I love how cheerful the color block paint is. I chose it to illustrate this piece because it's about that tension between complacency and contentment -- people were always coming by and adding a bit of graffiti here and there, and the resident priest would occasionally paint over parts of it, using what was available. The graffiti was rarely totally absent for long, but it also wasn't rampant.)
